Caterpillar Launches Global Technician Challenge

Caterpillar Inc. has introduced the Global Dealer Technician Challenge, a competition designed to showcase the essential role of dealer technicians in maintaining and servicing Cat machinery. Open to independent Cat dealers worldwide, the event emphasizes the skills and expertise required in this high-demand field. Participants will be tested on their agility, resilience, and versatility through hands-on challenges, highlighting the growing need for skilled technicians as Cat dealers anticipate needing over 44,000 additional technicians by the end of 2026.

The competition will progress through a series of regional and semifinal events held across the globe, culminating in a final round at CONEXPO/CON-AGG in Las Vegas in March 2026. Caterpillar hopes that this initiative will raise awareness of the numerous career opportunities available in this field, encouraging individuals with a talent for problem-solving, mechanical aptitude, and tech-savviness to consider a career as a Cat dealer technician. Those interested can find more information about these roles by visiting Caterpillar's dedicated web page.

"This hands-on, skills-based competition will test the technicians' agility, resilience, and versatility," said Henry Venneman, Caterpillar's Global Service Vice President. "These trained experts are on the front line of support, working to keep machines and engines up and running to help ensure our customers’ critical projects are completed."
