Senix Sensors Deliver Real-Time Flood Data

Senix ToughSonic® ultrasonic sensors by Binmaster, are a key component of Iowa’s advanced flood monitoring system, providing continuous, real-time stream-level data across more than 200 sites statewide. Deployed by the Iowa Flood Center (IFC), the sensors feed data into the Iowa Flood Information System (IFIS), supporting improved flood forecasting, emergency response, and public awareness.

Selected for their durability, precision, and ease of integration, the sensors have been customised to suit remote deployment and harsh field conditions. The ToughSonic models operate with minimal maintenance and are designed to resume functionality even after submersion during extreme flooding events. Their integration with solar power, modems, and telemetry systems forms a vital part of the IFC’s broader disaster management strategy.

“The Senix sensors and technical team have been pivotal to the success of this project.” said Daniel Ceynar, Project Engineer at the IFC.
