Since 2014, KASSELWASSER—the municipal water utility for the city of Kassel, Germany—has used acron, a software solution from VIDEC, as its central platform for collecting and archiving process data. Developed in collaboration with integrator SEGNO, the system replaced an earlier in-house solution, with historical data going back to 2008 successfully migrated during implementation. According to the company, acron stood out for its fast performance, flexible configuration options, and cost-efficient scalability.
The platform integrates real-time data from a broad range of sources, including the utility’s SCADA and LIMS systems, citywide pumping stations, stormwater retention basins, and multiple weather stations. Data is accessed via OPC interfaces or imports, and processed using acron’s built-in formula editor for custom evaluations. Since 2019, this setup has been extended with JUNE5, a browser-based information portal that allows secure, remote access to real-time data from other operations via VPN.
VIDEC states that this integrated approach supports efficient monitoring and evaluation across a complex urban water network, enabling KASSELWASSER to manage infrastructure performance with greater insight and agility.
