International technology group ANDRITZ has been awarded a contract by Kommunale Nährstoffrückgewinnung Niedersachsen GmbH (KNRN) to supply a sewage sludge mono-incineration plant in Hildesheim, Germany. Designed to process 33,500 tons of dry matter per year, the plant will handle material from 21 municipalities in Lower Saxony and comply with Germany’s sewage sludge regulation, which mandates phosphorus recovery due to its status as a finite resource.
The scope of supply includes sludge reception, conveying, drying and incineration systems, as well as flue gas treatment, a steam turbine and generator, and supporting infrastructure. According to ANDRITZ, the facility will generate electricity for the public grid and provide heat for the local district heating network, while meeting stringent environmental and efficiency standards.
“Winning this tendering procedure demonstrates our ability to meet the needs of our customers with our cutting-edge technologies. We are very excited to collaborate with KNRN to implement this project and make a significant contribution to a circular economy.” said Benjamin Klammer, Project Manager, Sales at ANDRITZ.
