TotalEnergies and Veolia have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen their cooperation in areas supporting the energy transition and the circular economy. Building on their longstanding partnership, the companies will combine their industrial and environmental expertise to advance technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption. Veolia will contribute its experience in water resource management and waste recovery, while TotalEnergies will bring its capabilities in methane measurement, low-carbon energy, and emissions reduction.
Among the initial areas of focus are the deployment of TotalEnergies’ drone-based AUSEA technology for methane detection at Veolia’s landfill sites, and joint initiatives to reduce the industrial sector’s water footprint. Veolia will also assist TotalEnergies in achieving its 2030 water reduction targets and in expanding wastewater reuse projects at its industrial facilities. The companies will further cooperate on using low-carbon energy to power desalination plants and on developing processes to recover strategic materials from waste, including rare earth elements.
“We are delighted with this partnership with Veolia. TotalEnergies has cutting-edge solutions and technologies to offer Veolia and vice versa. Together, we can make a concrete contribution to the energy transition and the circular economy,” said Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies.
