New Drinking Water Lead Joins CDM Smith

CDM Smith has appointed Dr Wesley Oehmig as a drinking water discipline leader, strengthening its technical capability in the southeastern United States. With 15 years of experience in drinking water research, design and pilot testing, he will support project delivery across the region and guide teams working on treatment system upgrades and emerging water-quality challenges. His background includes leading work on filtration, pretreatment and advanced oxidation at major drinking water plants in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Dr Oehmig adds specialist expertise in areas such as PFAS treatment and automation, built on extensive project experience with large municipal utilities. His academic credentials include bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in Environmental Engineering Sciences from the University of Florida, and he is a registered professional engineer in several states. He also serves as chair of the Region VIII Florida Section AWWA.

“Wes brings a wealth of experience and qualifications to enhance our already unmatched drinking water team in the southeast. Importantly, Wes also brings a collaborative approach that is aligned with CDM Smith’s values for addressing the needs of our clients,” said Mark White, drinking water practice leader at CDM Smith.
