Sandvik has expanded its Newtrax Mining Data Platform (MDP) with the introduction of the Newtrax Control Room Editor, a feature designed to improve manual data management in underground mining environments. The tool allows users to create, update and delete data without network connectivity, ensuring reliable access to critical information even in areas with limited connectivity. It also strengthens data validation by comparing manually entered information with automatically collected telemetry, helping to reduce information gaps and improve decision-making.
The feature enables mines to digitise workflows, update asset locations on a 3D map, capture machine health data linked to maintenance actions, and connect to data sources through active web forms, all without depending on a network connection. Field trials in Southeast Asia demonstrated that the tool provides greater visibility and operational control, even in low connectivity conditions. This addition reinforces the position of the Newtrax MDP suite as a leading platform for data-driven underground mining operations.
“We have developed the Newtrax Control Room Editor in close collaboration with our customers, to ensure that their operations remain data-driven even when connectivity is limited underground. By allowing users to capture and validate data offline, we’re enabling mines to achieve a new level of reliability and accuracy in their data management.” said Lior Herman, Head of Mining Data Platform Automation at Sandvik Mining.
