Tsurumi's KTZ415 submersible drainage pumps are being utilized in the construction of the underground power line between France and Spain, part of the European INELFE project. The pumps are designed for high head and heavy-duty applications, making them suitable for challenging environments such as tunneling and mining. Their features include a cast iron body, high-chromium cast iron impeller, and dual silicon carbide mechanical seals, which contribute to durability and performance in abrasive conditions.
The INELFE project, a collaboration between French and Spanish electricity transmission operators, aims to enhance the exchange capacity between the two countries to 5,000 MW. The interconnection includes a 400 km link, with approximately 300 km of submarine cable across the Bay of Biscay and underground sections on both sides. The project incorporates preventive and corrective measures to minimize environmental impact, such as routing the line underground and using micro-tunnels to cross beneath rivers, thereby reducing the impact on watercourses and water levels.
Tsurumi's KTZ series pumps are engineered to tackle tough conditions, including abrasive waters encountered in construction and mining dewatering. They offer versatility by converting between high-head and high-volume performance. Features such as pressure relief ports, an oil lifter, internal thermal motor protection, and an anti-wicking cable entrance contribute to their reliability in demanding applications.
