Veolia Launches Qatar's Largest Water Reuse Facility

Veolia Water Technologies (VWT) has partnered with Katara Project to establish a Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) Polishing Plant. This project aims to support Qatar's National Vision 2030 by promoting sustainable water use and conserving freshwater resources in accordance with the country’s environmental development goals.

The TSE Polishing Plant, provided by VWT Qatar, is designed to address space and power supply constraints at the Katara Energy Centre, resulting in reduced project costs. With a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters per day, it is the first of its kind in the region, converting treated sewage effluent into high-quality demineralized water for cooling towers and irrigation of Katara's green areas.

This project supports sustainable wastewater reuse by preserving groundwater resources and reducing energy consumption, while Veolia's inline design technology provides a solution for the region. In June 2024, Katara Project engaged Veolia Water Technologies Qatar to assist with the ongoing operation and maintenance of the plant.
