SealRyt Introduces Water-Free Agitator Sealing

SealRyt has reported successful results from its DuraPack® System in a series of agitator applications where mills were seeking to curb water use and reduce maintenance demands. The system, which incorporates a Structural Lantern Ring (SLR®) designed for air-flush operation, has been installed across three tissue machines since 2023. According to the company, its lantern ring geometry helps stabilise the shaft and maintain sealing performance under low- or no-water conditions, contributing to leak-free running on nine agitators to date.

The company attributes the outcome to the tapered internal grooves within the lantern ring, which are intended to distribute air more evenly and create the necessary pressure differential at the sealing interface. Reported results include significant water savings—estimated at over 20 million gallons annually across the installed units—alongside simplified maintenance and reduced environmental impact.
