Urban flooding is becoming an increasing challenge globally due to climate change, prompting cities to adopt more sophisticated water management approaches. Grundfos, a global leader in pump technology, is contributing to these efforts with advanced pumping systems designed to efficiently manage floodwaters and protect urban infrastructure.
Recent projects include the deployment of Grundfos storm water pumps in Pasadena, California, where the pumps moved over 30,000 gallons of floodwater per minute during a significant flooding event, helping keep critical roadways clear and safe. Similarly, after a major cloudburst in Copenhagen, Grundfos partnered with local water utilities to develop cloudburst flood control projects, reducing future flood risks in vulnerable neighbourhoods.
The Grundfos Water Safe Cities Programme, launched in 2020, supports this mission by mapping regional water risks and promoting sustainable, multi-sector water management solutions aimed at safeguarding communities and infrastructure from water-related hazards.
