Arup continues its role in the Busselton Water Supply Improvement Project with the detailed design of a new groundwater treatment plant in Western Australia’s South West. This follows successful preliminary design efforts and forms a key part of the largest water infrastructure upgrade undertaken by Busselton Water in decades. The plant aims to secure a reliable water supply amid regional challenges like saltwater intrusion and climate-related rainfall decline.
Construction on a critical monitoring and production bore will be finalized by the end of 2025, contributing essential data for the treatment plant’s detailed design. The project supports the utility’s efforts to maintain high-quality drinking water for a growing population.
“Following on from our preliminary design work, our local WA team is excited to start the detailed design phase of the plant, leveraging the firm's extensive expertise in delivering major water projects in Australia and around the world.” said Emson Makita, Arup’s Western Australia Leader
