The UK government has appointed Arup to the £39 million Just Transitions Water Security partnership, a five-year initiative led by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). This programme aims to address water scarcity and climate change by uniting public and private sectors to develop and implement solutions for improved water management. Working alongside partners such as the Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA), Deltares and the International Water Institute (IWMI), Arup will contribute to deploying the Water Resilience Tracker, which is designed to enhance water resilience in over 25 countries by 2030.
The Water Resilience Tracker prioritizes water in climate action planning, supporting governments and cross-sector stakeholders in managing water resources sustainably. By facilitating integrated approaches to climate challenges, the tracker is intended to strengthen national economies and improve population health through better water security and governance. This broader initiative also focuses on driving investment in water infrastructure and ensuring equitable resource management.
"The Water Resilience Tracker paves the way for coordinated and targeted climate action, highlighting the vital role of water in building a resilient future. It's a huge privilege to be partnering with AGWA, Deltares, and IWMI to accelerate equitable progress in lower- and middle-income countries, creating lasting and positive change for generations to come." said Martin Shouler, Associate Director at Arup.
