Hitachi Electric Excavators Assist Water Infrastructure Projects

A Hitachi Premium Rental electric excavator, the ZE85, has been employed by J. van Uijthoven & Zn BV on a government-funded project near Eindhoven, The Netherlands, involving sewerage and utility pipe installation. The compact 8.5-tonne model was chosen for its size and capability to work efficiently in confined spaces while meeting low-emission requirements. The rental was arranged through Hitachi’s local dealer network, reflecting an increase in demand for electric machines on projects requiring environmental sensitivity.

Alongside the ZE85, the company rented a larger ZE135 electric excavator for sewer replacement works, while also operating other Hitachi models in its fleet. Hitachi’s Premium Rental programme offers a range of electric excavators between five and 15 tonnes, intended to support contractors working in water infrastructure and other environmentally regulated sectors.
