Sanepar, the Sanitation Company of Paraná, has awarded ACCIONA a concession contract for sanitary sewerage services in 48 municipalities in southern Brazil's Paraná state. The agreement encompasses an investment exceeding €324 million to develop infrastructure such as sewerage networks, pumping stations, and wastewater treatment plants, with operational and maintenance responsibilities over 24 years.
The project aims to expand sanitation coverage in the West microregion of Paraná from 25% to 100% by 2033, supporting equitable access to sanitation services. In line with Sustainable Development Goal 6, the initiative seeks to enhance water quality, reduce pollution, and protect water-related ecosystems, including rivers and lakes.
ACCIONA highlights its extensive experience in Brazil, where it has delivered significant infrastructure and water treatment projects over the past 25 years, including metro systems, wastewater treatment facilities, and cogeneration systems. The company describes the contract as the largest among three regional lots awarded, underscoring its role in advancing sustainable water management solutions.
