Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas has taken steps to reduce pollution in Newnan, Georgia, through a community-focused initiative to install a trash trap at CJ Smith Park. The project, undertaken in partnership with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and Keep Newnan Beautiful, aims to capture litter and debris before it enters the local river system. Funding was secured via an internal fundraiser complemented by a corporate match, and the installation was completed on June 25, 2025, with participation from company team members and community partners.
The trash trap is now actively collecting debris, helping protect aquatic ecosystems while fostering collaboration between the company, nonprofit organizations, and local authorities. This project reflects Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas’ ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. Future efforts are expected to focus on volunteer opportunities and educational initiatives to further involve employees and residents in sustainability activities.
The initiative demonstrates a practical approach to addressing environmental challenges in urban areas. By partnering with local organizations and leveraging internal resources, the company has contributed to pollution reduction while strengthening civic relationships, laying the groundwork for potential future sustainability projects.
