Tedagua Adds Modular Desalination Capacity

Tedagua has doubled the capacity of the Adeje-Arona seawater desalination plant in Tenerife through the integration of a modular system. The solution, designed and executed in-house, expanded the plant’s output to 5,500 m³/day while maintaining service continuity and improving energy efficiency to 2.18 kWh/m³. The project was commissioned in response to a local water emergency and carried out under the direction of the Tenerife Island Water Council.

The expansion leveraged Tedagua’s containerized desalination technology, originally rated for 2,500 m³/day, and was adapted to function in conjunction with the existing infrastructure. The modernization included new high-pressure components, energy recovery systems, and upgrades to control and instrumentation, all designed to minimize operational disruption and support a rapid deployment.

Tedagua states that this latest development complements its recent work on water reuse systems elsewhere on the island, reinforcing its capacity to deliver modular and fast-response solutions to meet regional water challenges.
