North Battleford, Saskatchewan, has made significant strides in modernizing its water infrastructure by adopting digital solutions from Xylem (NYSE: XYL). The city has installed smart water meters and implemented the Sensus FlexNet® communication network to enhance operational efficiency and address water loss. This upgrade enables real-time data monitoring, allowing the utility team to detect leaks proactively through continuous consumption alerts, thus providing timely notifications to customers.
The introduction of Xylem’s technology has already yielded noticeable improvements. The city has been able to quickly identify and resolve issues such as pipe bursts and sprinkler system leaks. "You don’t think about water until it is a problem," said Stewart Schafer, Director of Operations at the City of North Battleford. "This advanced technology shows people how they are using their water, and can proactively inform them of a small leak before it becomes a bigger problem.".
