Manchester City Football Club has implemented a digital water management system at its City Football Academy training facility, using technology from its official water technology partner, Xylem. The Club says the system is designed to monitor, capture, and reuse rainwater more efficiently across the 16.5-pitch campus, supporting its goal to reduce dependence on potable water for irrigation.
According to the companies, the solution is powered by Xylem Vue, a digital platform that uses smart meters and sensors to track water usage and movement in real time. The Club reports that this data-led approach has already enabled it to save over 50 million liters of potable water through irrigation reuse and aims to capture 100% of stormwater runoff on site by mid-2026.
“This new system will give us a clear picture of how water moves across the site – not just how much we use, but where it comes from and where it goes. These insights will help us make smarter decisions every day.” said Pete Bradshaw, Director of Sustainability at Manchester City.
