Xylem and Yorkshire Water will share insights into their successful partnership at the Spring Innovation online showcase on 18 February 2025. The collaboration has focused on Yorkshire Water's Dynamic Asset Maintenance Programme, which has led to a 51% reduction in reactive visits to pumping stations. The programme, which includes the installation of nearly 1,000 new pumps across 500 sites, features the Flygt Concertor® solution, designed to improve clog resilience and reduce maintenance needs. The initiative has also resulted in a 13% decrease in energy consumption and a reduction in blockages and pollution incidents.
The showcase will highlight the impact of the Flygt Concertor solution, particularly at a site where pump blockages previously required multiple visits each week. Since the installation of the Concertor pumps in January 2019, there have been no reported blockages, effectively eliminating the need for reactive visits. The programme’s success is central to Yorkshire Water’s ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency while reducing environmental impacts across its network.
The project team will present key findings from their work and share lessons learned from the collaboration. They will discuss the tangible benefits achieved, including fewer reactive visits, energy savings, and longer-lasting equipment. These insights are expected to be valuable for water companies looking to address similar challenges across their networks.
