Volvo Penta has made a follow-on investment in UtilityInnovation Group (UIG), a company based in the United States and Ireland specializing in resilient utility systems and decentralized energy solutions. This investment supports UIG’s mission to scale dynamic grid infrastructure and aligns with Volvo Penta’s commitment to driving the energy transition. The collaboration will focus on expanding access to Volvo Penta’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) subsystems, enabling UIG to address growing demands for efficient, high-capacity energy storage.
Building on the initial partnership established in 2023, Volvo Penta aims to support UIG’s deployment of advanced technologies, including the Energy Storage for Resiliency (ESR) platform. This platform is designed to provide greater power stability and relieve pressure on energy-intensive environments, while UIG’s GridSure platform will add cyber-secure controls and management tools for optimal grid performance. Together, the companies are targeting the delivery of scalable energy solutions that enhance resilience and efficiency across diverse infrastructure projects worldwide.
“The investment in UtilityInnovation Group highlights the potential we see in our BESS subsystems for high energy demand sectors. Entrepreneurial companies like them bring specialized expertise that enhances our capabilities to meet future demands and accelerate time-to-market with pioneering solutions.” said Hannes Norrgren, President of Volvo Penta's Industrial Business.
