Hidroconta Delivers Smart Meter Tech for Galicia

Hidroconta is supplying over 33,000 Centaurus smart meters to support a major water infrastructure upgrade in Galicia, Spain. The deployment forms part of a wider project led by Espina & Delfín and funded through the PERTE programme under Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Designed for areas with complex terrain and dispersed populations, the initiative focuses on improving water monitoring across nine municipalities, with Vilagarcía de Arousa serving as a central hub.

The Centaurus meters operate via NB-IoT technology, chosen for its low energy use and reliable communication without the need for additional gateways. Their ability to deliver hourly readings and leak alerts has been highlighted by project participants as a significant step forward in network visibility and operational responsiveness. Hidroconta has worked alongside installation teams to ensure seamless integration, providing both technical support and field expertise.

During a joint webinar with iAgua, Hidroconta CEO Alfonso Corbalán underlined the company’s position: “There is no universal formula, but there is an effective methodology: adapted technology, staff training, and data-driven decisions.”
