Hidroconta Introduces Quantum Prepaid System in Greece

Hidroconta, in collaboration with Landco, has completed a project in Nestorio, northern Greece, aimed at improving irrigation management in agriculture. The initiative introduced the Quantum prepaid system, combining specialized hardware with a mobile application to allow farmers to monitor and control water consumption efficiently. By integrating water meters, valves, remote units, and NFC-enabled technology, the system enables accurate measurement and billing of water usage, helping reduce waste and improve irrigation practices.

The project, which began in early 2025, installed 84 Quantum prepaid units across existing and new water points. The cloud-based system supports multiple communication protocols, allowing local authorities to monitor usage in real-time. Farmers can manage their irrigation cycles independently through a simple mobile interface, promoting cost transparency, autonomous management, and more responsible water use.

“The solution proposed by Hidroconta proved to be the most suitable to address the aforementioned challenges. Quantum devices were installed at both existing and new water points, created specifically to meet the needs of the area. With the system’s implementation, the Local Community will be able to monitor each farmer’s water consumption, apply fair billing based on actual use, and, in general, improve irrigation management, avoiding losses and waste.” said Stavroula Xekalaki, project manager and agricultural engineer.
