Hidroconta Supports Digital Water Management

Hidroconta says it is playing a key role in several PERTE (Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation) initiatives supporting the digital transformation of Spain’s water sector. In regions including Cartagena, Ourense and Galicia, the company is supplying over 100,000 smart meters and associated devices that enable more accurate and real-time monitoring of water consumption. These technologies feed directly into its remote reading software, Deméter, which supports improved transparency and water resource management.

The company adds that the smart meters and connected devices use Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) technology to ensure efficient, long-range communication, even in hard-to-reach areas. Hidroconta highlights that this approach helps reduce operating and maintenance costs while enabling remote actions to be taken on water flow. These initiatives are described as part of the company’s wider contribution to optimizing water distribution and advancing more sustainable management practices.
